A busy month!

September has turned out to be quite busy. Sara, Sam, and I enjoyed a great trip to Seattle but the prep and some extra hours at work prior to the trip on top of the trip itself really ate into our time.
What a fantastic adventure it was though. Sam was a trooper and dealt with our fast paced and over crowded schedule really well. Below are a few photos from the last month and I hope to post some new videos soon as well.

Wear-ever Supershooter (oh the memories)

So Sara and I were out at Cockrell's a couple weeks ago and Sara saw a cookie press. She said it looked like it would be fun to use, and I regaled her with childhood memories of using a cookie press with my grandma. We use to make cookies with her around Christmas time I think. Anyway, I called my grandma and asked if she still had it and she said she didn't know where it would be if she did. Well, the next day she calls back and says she found it and we could try it if we wanted.

The box is a little ragged but all the parts seemed to be in good shape so we planned to make some cookies. Now, several week later, we finally were able to make those cookies.

Sara's folks brought some real butter back from Osceola Cheese and it made some delicious butter cookies. It took some time to get the hang of making consistent shaped cookies but overall it wasn't too difficult. The press does add several items to be cleaned (as opposed to just spooning dough onto a cookie sheet).

Schlitterbahn

In honor of Stuart's birthday we took a trip out to Schlitterbahn in KC yesterday (http://www.schlitterbahn.com/kc/construction/default.htm). We had a great time but it was packed. According to some employees we spoke to it was the busiest day so far since they opened. Sam did great (see below). It was a great day to be at the water park, the weather was nice and warm but not scalding.
It was our first time to the Kansas City Schlitterbahn and after the bad press it got when it opened we were not sure what to expect. The park is on the small side now but does have some neat innovative rides, namely the Storm Blaster (water roller coaster) and Torrent River(like a lazy river but with waves to push you along). Looking at the plans and map displayed they have very grand plans for a shopping/dining area in a riverwalk style as well as lots of hotel space. Of course there are also big plans to increase the water park size.

Sunday Afternoon Visits

Sam visited the other Great Grandma yesterday and had a great time. He gave her some big smiles and I think she had a blast as well.

She also loaned us her SuperShooter so Sara and I can try making cookies. I remember making them with Grandma some years ago. Hopefully we can post success photos here as well soon.

OK, this one just cracks me up : )

Sam also had a visit with Papa, he was talking his ear off (Sam talking Dan's off that is)
